David Bowie has left an estate valued at around £70million, according to his will which has been filed in New York. The Ziggy Stardust singer, who passed away on 10 January, requested that his fortune be left to his wife Iman, son Duncan and daughter Alexandria.

The will was filed in a Manhattan court on Friday under the musician’s legal name, David Robert Jones. While half will go to his widow Iman, along with the home they shared in New York, the rest will be shared by his son Duncan Jones, 44, and his 15-year-old daughter Alexandria.

The teenager has also been left a home in upstate New York.

In addition, David left £1.4million ($2million) to his personal assistant Connie Schwab, and a further £700,000 ($1million) to a former nanny, Marion Skene.

The will, written in 2004, requested that his ashes should be scattered in Bali “in accordance with the Buddhist rituals”.

David’s body was cremated on 12 January in New Jersey, a death certificate filed with the will confirmed. It was reported at the time that no friends or family were present, as he was said to have “wanted to go without any fuss” and not have a funeral in his honour.

Nonetheless his family confirmed that they are planning a private memorial service to pay tribute to a “beloved husband, father and friend” on David’s official Facebook page. They also thanked fans for the outpouring of support they had received following the shock announcement that David had passed away after a secret 18-month cancer battle.

The much-loved entertainer died just two days after he celebrated his 69th birthday by releasing his 28th studio album Blackstar – a record which David’s longtime producer Tony Visconti has since said was a “parting gift” to fans.

The record stormed straight to the top of the charts in the UK and also landed David his first ever US number one album, while a number of his classic albums also re-charted as fans remembered the iconic musician.
